About Us

Established in 1991, our bespoke furniture and joinery business, Declan Sexton and Sons, is a first and second generation partnership and family run workshop situated in the townland of Ballynevin, just east of the Comeragh mountains in Co. Waterford.

We understand that every customer has different needs, be it for the most elaborate kitchen, or for simple functional shelving. Over the years this has given us the opportunity to design and create furniture and joinery for every type of interior from period to contemporary.

We pride ourselves in our ability to reproduce furniture to match existing pieces or to accompany our customer on a journey into the avant-garde. Also, to serve customer needs, we have built up strong working relationships with many of the ancillary professions – specialist tool markers, artistic illustrators, guild leather craftsmen, colour analysts.

Declan Sexton and Sons has its origins in a modest woodworking business set up by Declan in 1991 in a small disused traditional cottage beneath a cluster of sycamores, adjacent to his home. Today, the disused cottage is our office and greeting place for customers, just a few steps from our well-equipped and up to date workshop, where we put shape and colour to kitchen and furniture ideas and designs.

Michael and myself, David, joined our father in 2006 and 2001 respectively, both of us having trained as cabinetmakers. We like to see ourselves as a family partnership of both the traditional and contemporary, in method and design, when traditional hand craft makes the best use of technological precision. We’re a family business. We take pleasure in making and crafting furniture for the aesthetic and practical needs of our customers.

Using the finest materials we handcraft your bespoke piece with a combination of traditional hand tools, modern machinery, a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted belief that anything is possible.
